After four years of planning our Reunion really started on the Monday as OWs slowly arrived from the four corners of the world to fill up virtually all the hotels in Portsmouth.

Eager helpers assembled in the Nelson Room at the Royal Maritime Club, like cadets meeting again at the start of a term, to help Mike Wheeler put up the Memorabilia Display. Tales, reactivated by the emergence of long forgotten artefacts, were endlessly related of life on board.

Tuesday dawned and our resident bugler, Graham Pearson, caused havoc amongst the sleeping OW yacht in the marina by playing Colours at 0800 hours when the Worcester Ensign was hoisted for the first time on Gunwharf Quay’s flagstaff. OWs in pyjamas rapidly appeared on yacht’s decks with ensigns in their hand.

The Colours ceremony took place every morning until Friday accompanied by the ringing of 8 bells on the Worcester ship’s bell from the Bower’s memorial tabernacle originally on the mizzen mast on the upper deck.

Wednesday dawned and you could not move in Portsmouth but trip over OWs!   Clive Bradbury

Special Request. These ladies and one man, who is too young to be an OW, were taking pictures of the “lads” doing the “Worcester Song”. Hopefully one of you was videoing it. If so, please send it to me for this site and anything else you have.

Slide Shows now available to view on this site.

Some wonderful words from Stan Benjamin who, for me, sums up what the reunion was all about.
